569 Miles on a Single Charge Sets New GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS Title

In a groundbreaking feat that showcases the incredible advancements in EV technology, Webfleet, Bridgestone’s globally trusted fleet management solution, has set a new GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS title for the longest journey by an electric car on a single charge. The remarkable journey spanned 569.64 miles (916.74 km), surpassing the previous record of 563.97 miles set in Hangzhou, China.

Record-Breaking Journey Verified

The record was meticulously documented with video footage, odometer readings, GPS data, and battery level data from Webfleet, ensuring its verification and authenticity. This comprehensive documentation provided indisputable proof of the achievement.

Ford Mustang Mach-E: The Record-Breaking Vehicle

The vehicle at the centre of this record-breaking feat was a Ford Mustang Mach-E SUV, specifically the Mach-E Premium Extended Range SUV RWD Auto with 18” wheels. This model, equipped with a 91kWh battery, boasts a WLTP range of 373 miles. However, during the record attempt, it exceeded expectations by achieving an average of 6.25 miles per kilowatt hour (kWh) on public roads across Norfolk, Lincolnshire, Yorkshire, Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire, and Cambridgeshire.

Optimised Performance with Bridgestone Tyres

The success of this journey was significantly aided by Bridgestone tyres, known for their low rolling resistance and outstanding mileage. These tyres were crucial in enhancing the vehicle’s efficiency, contributing to the exceptional range achieved during the record attempt.

Dedication and Team Effort

The drivers, Kevin Booker and Sam Clarke, supported by co-pilot Richard Parker of Webfleet, undertook this challenging drive over 24 hours, navigating a mix of urban and rural roads to simulate real-world driving conditions. Their dedication and precise driving were pivotal in reaching this milestone.

A Testament to Innovation

“This record is a testament to the hard work and dedication of everyone involved in this endeavour,” said Beverley Wise, Webfleet UKI Regional Director for Bridgestone Mobility Solutions. “It represents a significant milestone in the electrification of road transport and demonstrates the potential of electric vehicles when supported by innovative Bridgestone tyre design and advanced fleet management technology.”

Inspiration for the Future

Booker and Clarke, both of whom hold previous records for fuel economy and energy consumption in electric vehicles, expressed their excitement and hope that this achievement will inspire more people to consider electric vehicles for their everyday travel. “Breaking this record has been an exhilarating journey and a powerful demonstration of what electric vehicles can achieve,” remarked Booker. Clarke added, “Driving the Ford Mustang Mach-E for such a distance on a single charge was an extraordinary experience.”

Support from the AA

The record attempt received official adjudication and support from the AA, with Edmund King OBE, AA president, highlighting the importance of such achievements. “We are delighted to have supported this incredible achievement with our expert Patrols and backup team.
