Peek Behind The Curtain
In an exclusive peek behind the curtain, stars Damson Idris (Joshua Pearce) and Kerry Condon (Kate McKenna) lift the lid on their experience filming alongside none other than Hollywood icon Brad Pitt. Speaking from the historic Goodwood Circuit, Idris shared his thoughts on working with Pitt:
“Brad is just an amazing character, such a kind spirit. He taught me about humility, no matter how huge you get. I think everyone will be really proud of him in this movie. He’s a great leader and made this film better every step of the way – and he was a great sparring partner for me!”
The film, set within the high-octane world of Formula One, isn’t just a Hollywood spin on racing. It’s a full-throttle attempt to capture the energy of motorsport. With Lewis Hamilton serving as a producer, authenticity was paramount. That meant real racetracks, real F1 weekends — and, in Damson’s case, a real spin-out incident in Austin.
Bingeing Drive to Survive
To get into character, Idris went method, bingeing Drive to Survive and training like a pro. But he didn’t stop at simulation. As part of a promo event with official watch partner IWC Schaffhausen — whose branding features prominently on the fictional APXGP team — Idris took to the track at Goodwood for a ride-along in the same Mercedes-AMG GT used in the film.
APXGP
Behind the wheel was professional stunt driver Eliott Cole, who piloted the APXGP machine in scenes throughout the movie. The stunt was a faithful recreation of a key sequence from the film — a thrilling way to showcase the intensity and speed that fans can expect on screen.
Idris, who performs much of his own driving in F1, spoke about the demanding nature of training for the role and filming during actual Grand Prix weekends — an experience few actors ever get.
